To plot a profile report:
- Begin by selecting Print > Subsurface Profiles.
- Use the source selection options discussed in this section to select the borings that will appear on the profile. Note: LOGDRAFT won't automatically separate borings that you feel should go on different pages, so when you're plotting a profile choose only those borings that you want to appear on that profile.
- Once you've chosen the borings you may want to save that selection as a cutline. Cutlines are just lists of the borings that appear on different profiles -- they save you the time of selecting one by one the borings that make up a given profile. This section gives directions on saving cutlines.
- Next, choose the horizontal and vertical scaling that will be used with the profile.
One point to keep in mind when selecting the vertical scale for a profile: Borings that run off the bottom of the profile aren't continued onto a following page (unlike a regular boring log which can continue the same boring over multiple page). Be sure to pick a vertical scale that allows you to print all of the profile's borings from top to bottom -- this may be especially difficult on elevation-adjusted profiles if the borings were drilled on widely varied terrain. - Choose the report form that will be used for your profile.
- When printing profiles the "Report Form" tab of the Report Settings dialog includes Figure Number and Page Number fields that you may need to fill in.
- Several of the profile reports that are shipped with the package are designed so that whatever is entered into the Page Number is used to title the profile: For example, in this figure, the A-A' in profile's title block was entered into the profile's starting page number. Check the description of the profile form you're using to see if it uses Page Number as a title.
- Next, if you'll be saving your report to a file, check the instructions given in this section.
- Finally, click on the Print button if you're going to be sending your report to a printer, or the Output button if you'll be saving your report to a file, or the Preview button to view the profile on-screen.
