Stopping LOGDRAFT from Connecting Successively Deeper Graph Markers

Problem: Report forms designed to connect successively deeper graph markers with a solid or dotted line. This does not provide for an accurate view of the test parameter's behavior: a better procedure would be to not draw the line between markers which are separated by a stratigraphy transition or by an intervening sample which was not tested.

This option is covered extensively in the Customization Guide, but is provided in the context of adding a new graph to a report. The purpose of this document is to provide instructions on modifying an existing report to selectively remove the graph marker lines.

  1. Open a LOGDRAFT project.
  2. Select "Tools" > "Data Entry Forms".
  3. On the bottom of the screen you will see a row of tabs: click on the "Tabulated Data" tab.
  4. In the top-right corner of the screen you'll find a yellow box listing the items which you can add to your table: locate and double-click on the line that starts out with the word "DISCONTINUITY".
  5. Select "Entry Form" > "Exit".
  6. Preview a boring log report on-screen.
  7. Select "Tools" > "Report Forms".
  8. Select "Sections" > "Subsurface Table".
  9. Locate the column where you are printing your graphs: You can find the correct column by clicking on the right-arrow button in the toolbar at the top of the screen (that's the button that looks like this: ">") until you see something like Graph of "XXXX" next to the "Items Included in Column" heading.
  10. In the "Items Included in Column" section of the screen, double-click on your Graph of "XXXXX" entry: this should open up a dialog box with the title "Place a Graph in the Current Column".
  11. Click on the "Connecting line" tab.
  12. Click on the "Indicate during data entry that successive markers will be connected" checkbox.
  13. In the field below the checkbox, type in DISCONTINUITY
  14. Close the dialog then select "Report" > "Exit".
